PerimeterEye vs VivintLights at the camera, or a searchlight that follows them.

PerimeterEye answers on the property, in seconds, by itself. A motorized searchlight locks on and follows them, an AI voice describes them and tells them to leave, and a 130 dB siren sounds if they stay.

The AI voice warning and AI siren come with Standard and up, and every system starts with a month of AI Guard.

Vivint installs every system itself, with agents required on each, and its cameras deter: Smart Deter whistles and lights a red ring, and the Spotlight Pro is a fixed light bar that sweeps and strobes.1234

What PerimeterEye does differently

Each one next to what Vivint says about its own products, October 2026.

A searchlight that follows them

The Brain turns a motorized searchlight onto the person and keeps the beam on them as they move, with 355° of rotation and 90° of tilt. Every package with a searchlight runs on Brain Full, for full tracking.

At VivintThe Spotlight Pro is a fixed light bar that sweeps and strobes, up to 1,800 lumens, and needs the Outdoor Camera Pro 3.2

A voice that describes them

The AI speaks to the person and describes them: “You, black hoodie, get away from the car now.” No agent is on the line. On Standard and up.

At VivintSmart Deter whistles and lights the camera's red LED ring when someone loiters, with five tones to choose from.18

The whole response, with nobody on the line

The AI on the Brain reads what the person is doing, where, for how long and at what hour, then runs every step itself: searchlight, voice, then the 130 dB siren if they stay. Nobody has to press anything. The voice and the AI siren come with Standard and up.

At VivintVivint's team acts once the alarm goes off: they reach you through the hub or by phone, and request emergency services if needed.4

Yours to install, month to month

Install it yourself with the included instructions, or hire an independent installer. No agents are required, plans are month to month, and the system keeps running on Free. Switching from another company? Get up to $1,000 of their cancellation fee back with a 36-month plan.

At VivintEvery Vivint system is installed by Vivint and comes with required agents; HomeProtect's lower prices come with a 3-year agreement.345

A video doorbell and intercom with door codes and cards that rings your phones and wall panels. The AI Doorman greets visitors and takes messages on AI Guard.
LightThe Spotlight Pro: a fixed light bar that sweeps and strobes, up to 1,800 lumens and 25 feet, and turns more intense if someone lingers. It needs the Outdoor Camera Pro 3 and Vivint's installation.28A motorized searchlight with 355° of rotation and 90° of tilt, sold with its 90 W PoE injector: the Brain turns the beam onto the person and keeps it on them as they move. It sweeps the property on a schedule, and you can tap a camera's picture to aim it. Full tracking on Brain Full; slower on Brain Lite.
SirenSmart Deter whistles and lights the Outdoor Camera Pro 3's red LED ring when someone loiters for the time you set (Vivint recommends ten seconds). The hub's siren is 100 dB, and the camera takes a siren extender.189130 dB with a strobe, on one network cable. The AI siren sounds by itself on serious threats with Standard and up; on any plan you can sound it from the app. It stops after 30 seconds and tells you.
Inside the homeDoor and window, motion, glass-break, smoke and CO, and water sensors, Kwikset smart locks, a garage controller and a thermostat. HomeProtect includes the hub, three door and window sensors, a motion sensor and a keypad.356Model 604. A touchscreen on the wall for live cameras and rewind, modes, the siren and the searchlight, and the front door. Instead of door and window sensors that react when a door or window opens, PerimeterEye is built to answer the person outside, before they reach a door, and it can run alongside an alarm you already have.
Power and connectionWi-Fi, with cellular and battery backup in the hub. The Outdoor Camera Pro 3 keeps recording to the device if the Wi-Fi drops.198 PoE ports and 2 uplinks at 120 W, and Cat 6 cables in 25, 50 and 75 ft: one cable per device carries its power and video. Every package comes with the switches and cables it needs, so the prices here are for spares. The Brain switches to Wi-Fi if its cable drops.

Vivint says it has no access to your live or stored video.4None needed. It answers on its own, day and night: nobody has to watch or step in, not even you. The alert and video still reach your phone.

Someone walks up the driveway at night

What each one does, step by step: Vivint's from its own pages, PerimeterEye's as filmed. An illustration, not a timed test.

Vivint

  1. Someone lingers by the driveway. After the time you set (Vivint recommends ten seconds), Smart Deter whistles and lights the camera's red LED ring.18
  2. A Spotlight Pro, if installed, sweeps and strobes, and turns more intense if they stay.28
  3. You get an instant notification and can watch live in the Vivint app or on the hub.1
  4. If the alarm goes off, Vivint's team reaches you through the hub or by phone, and requests emergency services if needed.4

Light and sound at the camera, and people once the alarm goes off.

PerimeterEye

  1. The camera sees a person, and the AI on the Brain reads what they are doing, where, for how long and at what hour.
  2. The searchlight turns onto them and keeps the beam on them as they move.
  3. The AI voice describes them and tells them to leave: “You, black hoodie, get away from the car now.”
  4. If they stay, the 130 dB siren sounds. Your phone already has the alert with live video.

PerimeterEye and Vivint: questions buyers ask

Is Vivint's Spotlight Pro the same as PerimeterEye's searchlight?

They are different devices. Vivint's Spotlight Pro is a fixed light bar that sweeps and strobes, up to 1,800 lumens, mounted with its Outdoor Camera Pro 3 and installed by Vivint. PerimeterEye's Tracking Spotlight is a motorized searchlight with 355° of rotation and 90° of tilt, which the Brain turns onto the person and keeps on them as they move.

Do I need professional installation and agents?

With Vivint, yes: every system is installed by Vivint and comes with required agents. With PerimeterEye, no: install it yourself with the included instructions, or hire an independent installer and pay them directly. And it answers on its own: nobody watches your cameras.

Which costs less?

It depends on what you buy. Vivint's entry HomeProtect equipment is $199.99 with a 3-year agreement or $349.99 without, and its Outdoor Camera Pro needs HomeProtect Pro, whose equipment starts at $749.99, installed. PerimeterEye's packages start at $1,399, with no agreement, and the system runs on Free. Both sides' plan prices are in the table on this page.

What happens if the internet goes down?

Vivint says its hub has built-in cellular and battery backup, and its Outdoor Camera Pro 3 keeps recording to the device. On PerimeterEye, detection, recording, searchlight tracking and the siren keep running on the Brain at your property; the AI voice warning resumes when the connection is back.

Does anyone watch my cameras?

Vivint says it has no access to your live or stored video unless you share it with its support team. PerimeterEye has no agents or guards watching: the AI on the Brain decides and acts, alerts come to you, and your 24/7 recording stays on the Brain at your property.
