PerimeterEye vs ADTAn alarm that calls for help, or a property that answers.

PerimeterEye answers on the property, in seconds, by itself. A motorized searchlight locks on and follows them, an AI voice describes them and tells them to leave, and a 130 dB siren sounds if they stay.

The AI voice warning and AI siren come with Standard and up, and every system starts with a month of AI Guard.

ADT sells alarms answered by agents in its own centers: installed on a 36-month contract with Google Nest cameras, or do-it-yourself as ADT Blu, with its own cameras and no long-term contract.12456

What PerimeterEye does differently

Each one next to what ADT says about its own products, October 2026.

It answers outside, before a door

The AI judges a person outside, and the searchlight, the voice and then the 130 dB siren answer on the property. No sensor has to trip, and nobody has to pick up a phone. The voice and the AI siren come with Standard and up.

At ADTADT's alarm sounds when a door, window or motion sensor trips; agents then text you to confirm or cancel, call, and can alert emergency services. Outside, its Nest floodlight camera lights up on motion.1248

A searchlight that follows them

The Brain turns a motorized searchlight onto the person and keeps the beam on them as they move, with 355° of rotation and 90° of tilt. Every package with a searchlight runs on Brain Full, for full tracking.

At ADTADT sells the Google Nest Cam with floodlight, a motion-activated floodlight.4

A voice that describes them

The AI speaks to the person and describes them: “You, black hoodie, get away from the car now.” No agent is on the line. On Standard and up.

At ADTOn ADT's Google Nest cameras, you talk to people yourself, from your phone.4

No contract

Buy the hardware once. Paid plans are month to month, and the system keeps running on Free if you stop paying. Switching from another company? Get up to $1,000 of their cancellation fee back with a 36-month plan.

At ADTInstalled systems come with a 36-month contract (24 in California); leaving early can cost 75% of the remaining monthly charges.2

What ADT sells, and what PerimeterEye sells

The two lineups, row by row: ADT's models, specs and prices from its own pages, PerimeterEye's from the Shop.

ADT and PerimeterEye, product by product
What is comparedADTPerimeterEye
The brain of the systemThe ADT Base, the hub of every package. It sends alarms over Wi-Fi with a cellular backup, and has a 24-hour backup battery.12Brain Full: the AI for 1-16 cameras, 1 TB of recording (about 20 days of 24/7 video from 4 cameras) and full searchlight tracking. Brain Lite: 1-12 cameras and 256 GB; it tracks more slowly and less accurately. Both record 24/7 at your property on every plan, Free included.
Outdoor camerasGoogle Nest cameras: the Nest Cam (outdoor or indoor, battery) with live HD video, and the wired Nest Cam Outdoor (2nd gen) and Nest Cam Indoor (3rd gen) with 2K video. ADT Blu sells its own 2K cameras, from $69.45Model 804, in white. 8 MP (4K) with a 2.8 mm starlight lens, full-color night vision, a microphone and speaker for two-way talk, and a metal housing, on one network cable.
The front doorThe Google Nest Doorbell (battery) with live HD video, or the wired Nest Doorbell (3rd gen) with 2K video. ADT Blu's doorbell camera: 2K, $109.45Model 704. A video doorbell and intercom with door codes and cards that rings your phones and wall panels. The AI Doorman greets visitors and takes messages on AI Guard.
LightThe Google Nest Cam with floodlight: a motion-activated floodlight with live HD video.4A motorized searchlight with 355° of rotation and 90° of tilt, sold with its 90 W PoE injector: the Brain turns the beam onto the person and keeps it on them as they move. It sweeps the property on a schedule, and you can tap a camera's picture to aim it. Full tracking on Brain Full; slower on Brain Lite.
SirenThe alarm sounds when a door, window or motion sensor trips. An extra indoor siren is $50 in ADT Blu's shop.25130 dB with a strobe, on one network cable. The AI siren sounds by itself on serious threats with Standard and up; on any plan you can sound it from the app. It stops after 30 seconds and tells you.
Inside the homeDoor and window sensors (one in Secure, two in Smart and Complete) and a Yale smart lock in Smart and Complete. Motion sensors, glass-break sensors and smoke and CO detectors cost extra: $35, $40 and $85 at ADT Blu's prices.25Model 604. A touchscreen on the wall for live cameras and rewind, modes, the siren and the searchlight, and the front door. Instead of door and window sensors that react when a door or window opens, PerimeterEye is built to answer the person outside, before they reach a door, and it can run alongside an alarm you already have.
Power and connectionWi-Fi, with a cellular backup for alarm signals. ADT says notifications, remote control and video need working internet and Wi-Fi.148 PoE ports and 2 uplinks at 120 W, and Cat 6 cables in 25, 50 and 75 ft: one cable per device carries its power and video. Every package comes with the switches and cables it needs, so the prices here are for spares. The Brain switches to Wi-Fi if its cable drops.
Who answersAgents at six ADT-run centers in the U.S. answer the alarm: a text lets you confirm or cancel, then they call and can alert emergency services. With video verification, they use clips you share to confirm it.189None needed. It answers on its own, day and night: nobody has to watch or step in, not even you. The alert and video still reach your phone.

Someone walks up the driveway at night

What each one does, step by step: ADT's from its own pages, PerimeterEye's as filmed. An illustration, not a timed test.

ADT

  1. A Nest camera, if one covers the driveway, sends an alert; the floodlight model lights up on motion.4
  2. Until a door, window or motion sensor trips, the alarm stays quiet and no agent is involved.12
  3. When a sensor trips, the alarm sounds and ADT texts you to confirm or cancel.28
  4. Agents call, and can alert emergency services, using camera clips you share to confirm the alarm.19

A response that starts once a sensor trips, from an alarm center.

PerimeterEye

  1. The camera sees a person, and the AI on the Brain reads what they are doing, where, for how long and at what hour.
  2. The searchlight turns onto them and keeps the beam on them as they move.
  3. The AI voice describes them and tells them to leave: “You, black hoodie, get away from the car now.”
  4. If they stay, the 130 dB siren sounds. Your phone already has the alert with live video.

On the property, in seconds, by itself, with nobody on the line.

  2. The analysis panel reading car theft in progress, all systems activated, while the person is still at the car
21:04:29Car theft in progressThree seconds after the door handle, the analysis is complete: the activity doesn’t match the household’s patterns and matches vehicle theft. All systems activate.

Where ADT is strong

Worth knowing before you decide, from its own pages.

Its own alarm centers

ADT runs six alarm centers in the U.S. itself, around the clock, with agents averaging seven years' experience.1

Confirm or cancel by text

Alarm Messenger lets you confirm or cancel an alarm by text; ADT reports over 50% fewer false alarm events than at sites not enrolled.1

One company, for 150 years

ADT has helped protect homes for 150 years, and it sells, installs and answers the alarm itself.12

Choose ADT if

  • You want agents answering your alarm around the clock, from ADT's own centers
  • You want it installed for you, with one company to call
  • Your risk is mostly inside, where door and window sensors cover it

Choose PerimeterEye if

  • Things start outside: a driveway, a yard, cars, a long approach
  • You want light, a voice and a siren on the property in seconds, before a door
  • You'd rather own the hardware than sign a 36-month contract

The AI voice warning and AI siren come with Standard and up, and every system starts with a month of AI Guard.

Own it. No contract.

Buy the hardware once, in one of three families or part by part. It runs on the Free plan; paid plans add the cloud AI, month to month. Switching from another company? Get up to $1,000 of their cancellation fee back with a 36-month plan.

PerimeterEye and ADT: questions buyers ask

Is PerimeterEye an alarm company like ADT?

No. PerimeterEye is an automatic property defense system. ADT's alarm answers once a door, window or motion sensor trips, and its agents then text you, call and can alert emergency services. PerimeterEye's AI judges a person outside and answers on the property: the searchlight follows them, an AI voice describes them, and the 130 dB siren sounds if they stay. The AI voice warning and AI siren come with Standard and up.

Does it need agents, the way ADT does?

No. PerimeterEye answers on the property by itself, in seconds: the searchlight locks on, the AI voice warning describes the person, and the siren sounds if they stay. Nobody watches your cameras, and the alert and live video reach your phone at the same time. The AI voice warning and AI siren come with Standard and up.

How do the contracts compare?

ADT's installed systems come with a 36-month contract (24 months in California), and leaving early can cost 75% of the remaining monthly charges; ADT Blu, its do-it-yourself line, has no long-term contract. PerimeterEye has no contract: paid plans are month to month, and the system keeps running on Free if you stop paying.

What happens if the internet goes down?

ADT's alarm signals have a cellular backup, and ADT says notifications, remote control and video need working internet and Wi-Fi. On PerimeterEye, detection, recording, searchlight tracking and the siren keep running on the Brain at your property; the AI voice warning resumes when the connection is back.

Can I keep my alarm and add PerimeterEye?

Yes. PerimeterEye can run alongside an alarm you already have: the alarm covers the doors and windows, and PerimeterEye answers people outside. Cameras you already own can join PerimeterEye if it can reach their video stream.
